Best things to do in Benahavís

Staircase La Subida Benahavis Malaga

THE STAIRCASE “THE CLIMB”

Located on Avenida de Andalucía, a modern work with a nostalgic touch in the center of the town. A work of art created in 2020. The old staircase has been converted into a typical Andalusian ceramic mural with the image of the façade of the old town hall. Next to the heraldic shield of the town. An instagrammable place to take photos for social networks.

TORRE LEONERA PARK

Next to the entrance to the town there is a large park to enjoy the gardens next to a pond full of trees, flowers and bushes. The park has some tables and benches to have a snack. The park has a dozen rabbits in a closed enclosure to enjoy with the children. Please respect the feeding of the animals.

LEONERA TOWER

Located in the center of Torre Leonera Park. A defensive line was created along the entire Malaga coast for several centuries against pirates coming from North Africa and against other invaders. A clear example is the lion tower that was built between the 12th and 13th centuries and is currently very well preserved.

MONTEMAYOR CASTLE

Located on the outskirts about 25 minutes from the town. The castle is currently the remains of an ancient Arab fortification from the 8th century. Its functions were mainly surveillance and defensive. Currently, some remains of the defensive towers, part of the enclosure and some cisterns are preserved. The path to the castle viewpoint is beautiful as it offers spectacular views of the coast. To climb there are slopes of around 20% and rocky paths, therefore, it requires experience and appropriate footwear.
